The managing director of the foundation, Dr Manuel Schneider, specifically assists the foundation's executive board in the exercise of its core functions, these being:

advising applicants,

comprehensively examining grant applications,

developing the foundation´s own projects, and

preparing decisions for the relevant bodies of the foundation.

Dr. Manuel Schneider

Having studied geology, history and philosophy at the universities of Bonn, Cologne and Munich, he went on to obtain a doctorate in philosophy. He was research assistant and scientific director at the Schweisfurth Foundation in Munich from 1989 to 2001, and has been self-employed since 2002 as an advisor and project developer for foundations and other non-profit organisations. He set up the !make sense! project agency based in Munich.
